“The humanoid robot is modeled after Kannon Bodhisattva, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. The robot’s name is Mindar and it gave its first speech on the Heart Sutra, a key scripture in Buddhist teaching. The Japan Times reported that the teachings spoken by the robot offer a path to “overcome all fear, destroy all wrong perceptions and realise perfect nirvana.””

The Language of Life is Digital

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/jan/13/secret-life-unveiled-chemistry-lab

“DNA is described as a genetic “database”, containing “instructions” on how to build an organism. The genetic “code” has to be “transcribed” and “translated” before it can act. And so on. If we cast the problem of life’s origin in computer jargon, attempts at chemical synthesis focus exclusively on the hardware – the chemical substrate of life – but ignore the software – the informational aspect. To explain how life began we need to understand how its unique management of information came about.”

Why the Many-Worlds Interpretation Has Many Problems 17 SHARE

“For every tragedy, like Gwyneth Paltrow’s character being hit by a van in the many-worlds-inspired 1998 movie Sliding Doors, there is salvation and triumph. Who could resist that idea?”

Elon Musk says we may live in a simulation. Here’s how we might tell if he’s right

https://www.nbcnews.com/mach/science/what-simulation-hypothesis-why-some-think-life-simulated-reality-ncna913926

“If you assume any rate of improvement at all, games will eventually be indistinguishable from reality,” Musk said before concluding, “We’re most likely in a simulation.”

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson agrees, giving “better than 50-50 odds” that the simulation hypothesis is correct. “I wish I could summon a strong argument against it, but I can find none,” he told NBC News MACH in an email.

You thought quantum mechanics was weird: check out entangled time

https://aeon.co/ideas/you-thought-quantum-mechanics-was-weird-check-out-entangled-time

“What on Earth can this mean? Prima facie, it seems as troubling as saying that the polarity of starlight in the far-distant past – say, greater than twice Earth’s lifetime – nevertheless influenced the polarity of starlight falling through your amateur telescope this winter. Even more bizarrely: maybe it implies that the measurements carried out by your eye upon starlight falling through your telescope this winter somehow dictated the polarity of photons more than 9 billion years old.”

Discovering Free Will

https://plus.maths.org/content/john-conway-discovering-free-will-part-i

“We were having great difficulty explaining how this particular experiment worked,” says Conway. “We stood back from the blackboard and asked ourselves, ‘What have we proved?’” After a long pause… Conway realised they had proved something entirely unexpected. “I said, ‘We’ve proved that if we have free will, then so do the particles.’ ” With this discovery, and this particular choice of words, Conway and Kochen created one of the most controversial theorems of their careers: The Freewill Theorem.

The Physics of Infinity

still under debate today — has far-reaching implications.
So, my question is: If infinity can’t exist then didn’t something come from nothing? Isn’t this also impossible?.
