That’s wild. is there an analogy in here with that last item you posted? Seems these bots are programmed with telos, intention, an endgame in mind, and all the random actions are guided by that programmed intention. As in the programmed intention for randomness in nature to lead to life, diversity, intelligence?
Agents are typically give “values” which drives their decision making process. How they reach that value or goal is often by trial and error.
